How Long Does It Take to Transfer a Domain to Cybersmart? Print

  • 4

The time it takes to transfer your domain depends primarily on the domain extension (local .co.za vs. international TLDs) and how quickly the transfer ticket/approval request is accepted.

Providing full cooperation from your current hosting provider and domain contact, the maximum transfer timeframe is up to 5 to 7 days.

Transfer Timelines by Domain Type

  • South African Domains (.co.za, .org.za, .net.za):

    • Instant to 5 minutes.

    • Once the transfer is initiated, an official transfer request ticket is emailed to the Registrant Email Address listed on the domain. As soon as you (or the domain owner) click the link in that email to accept the transfer, the transfer completes immediately.

  • International & Top-Level Domains (.com, .net, .org, .africa):

    • 5 to 7 Days.

    • These transfers require an EPP / Auth Code from your current domain registrar. Once the code is submitted and the transfer email is approved, the registry enforces a standard verification hold period before releasing the domain.
